Salmon Run
Goldstream Provincial Park, from late October through December, some 20,000 salmon make the journey from the Pacific Ocean up Finlayson Arm to spawn in the river they were born in 3/4 years earlier. Park naturalists offer hourly programs during the weekend at the park's Nature Centre describing the life cycle of chum salmon and their spawning activity with a special noon program at the picnic site. The Q's Victoria Track Series
Emphasis is on fun! The Series is a low-key, light-on-the-frills track series, where first-timers, joggers, semi-serious and elite athletes have opportunities to race on the track, competing at middle distances (and 5000m) in individual races or competing for series placement. All races happen on Saturdays. All take place at Jack Wallace Memorial Track at Oak Bay High School, behind Oak Bay Recreation Centre. All meet nights start at 6:30 PM. During the series there are 3 opportunities for anyone who wishes to run, to race in each of the distances of 800m, 1500m, 1609m (classic 1 mile distance), 3000m and 5000m. For series awards standings, runners need to take in a minimum of 4 races, one being at the 5000m distance.

Sand Sculpting Competition & Exhibit
Master Sand Sculptors travel from all corners of the globe to participate in this remarkable competition & exhibit. Sculptors have 24 hrs over 3 days to create their masterpieces from just sand & water. The competition begins with the "pound up" on Friday July 16th & the winners are announced on Sunday July 18th. The gated exhibit is open to the public until August 15th & you can vote for your favourite sculpture. Entry to the exhibit area is by donation with a suggested donation of $2 per person. Over 230 teenaged sea cadets from Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) QUADRA will take to the BC Legislature Lawn on Saturday, 31 July as part of their annual Ceremony of the Flags performance. With a 50-member band, 100 member guard and sixty cadets manning the flag party and naval field guns, the performance will honour the Canadian Navy Centennial. The Cadets come from across Canada and are 14 – 18 years old.
Time: 1930 the contingent steps off from Cormorant Street through downtown Victoria towards the BC Legislature.
2000hrs – the performance begins.
2100hrs – performance concludes.
